On the occasion of a competition for a pavilion of the General Directorate for Architecture and Contemporary Art (DARC) of the Italian Ministry of Culture at the 8th Venice Biennale curated by Deyan Sudjic, we proposed to use the available financial resources differently. To stimulate a public reflection on the Biennale’s theme “Next”, and on the necessity of architecture,  a low-cost yet highly impactful and engaging installation was designed to prompt the public to make proposals on how to use the funds thus saved, with the aim of generating from this opportunity a concrete intervention in the transformation of a real place.
The project envisaged to convert a large share of the funds into ten-cent coins to fill a golden pool, inviting visitors to leave a proposal and to add to the initial capital with a donation, by throwing their own coins into the pool.
